The protective pieces (10) are each a shell which is moulded in plastic material. Its outer surface is convex and is curved along two perpendicular directions. Two opposite end of the shell are fastened (20) to a garment (V) at a zone of articulation. The shape of each shell is elliptical and it is fixed to the garment at the ends of its long axis. Its peripheral region is smooth and the central region is raised above this.
