Copper (II) ions of the used etching liquid are treated with sodium hydroxide to produce copper hydroxide. The copper hydroxide obtained is heated and decomposed to produce copper oxide. The latter is dried and solvated with use of a solution containing sulfuric acid to produce a reusable electrolyte solution containing sulfate and copper ions. The claimed apparatus includes a reaction vessel (5) for transforming copper ions of the used etching liquid into a non soluble copper compound, a drier (6) for drying this compound, and a solvation vessel (7) for obtaining a reusable electrolyte solution.
