摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the rigidity of a main spindle by making pre-load of a bearing as large as possible at the time of embedding and to prevent pre-load more than necessary from being applied to the bearing. SOLUTION: In this spindle device for a machine tool with a main spindle rotatably supported inside a fixed housing through rolling bearings 2, 3, 4, 5, the main spindle 1 is provided with a main spindle body 1a and thin-walled cylindrical parts 1b, 1c provided at the outer periphery of the main spindle body 1a, and inner rings 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a of the rolling bearings 2-5 are fixed to the thin-walled cylindrical parts 1b, 1c so as to be put in an interference-fitted state during ordinary temperature. A pipe member 20 is fixed to the outer periphery of the main spindle body 1a, and annular cavities 23, 24 are formed between the outer periphery of the main spindle body 1a and the inner periphery of the pipe member 20 to form the thin-walled cylindrical parts 1b, 1c.
