PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and reliably join an outer ring member and a shaft member of a constant velocity universal shaft coupling without practically influencing the outer ring member. SOLUTION: In this joining method of an outer ring member 20 and a shaft member 10 of a constant velocity universal shaft coupling, the small diameter part of the joining end part 12 on the tip of the shaft member formed of the large diameter part, the tip side small diameter part and the step part between both, is dimensionally nonresistively fitted in a noncircular joining hole 23 of the bottom part 22 of the outer ring member of a cup body, and a molding tool T forming the outer peripheral end surface of the tip surface of the small diameter part, a outer peripheral end surface 52 corresponding to a taper surface recessed part 17 and the taper surface projecting part 53 on the tip surface, is pressed in the concentric relationship to the small diameter part forming a proper width outer peripheral end surface 16 and the taper surface recessed part 17 on the tip surface. The taper surface projecting part 53 is advanced into the taper surface recessed part 17 by the press, the small diameter part of the joining end part of the shaft member is push-expanded outward, the outer peripheral surface is deformed in an inner peripheral surface shape of the joining hole, the outer peripheral end surface of the molding tool is pressed to the outer peripheral end surface of the shaft member, and the part projecting from the bottom inside surface of the outer ring member in the joining end part is expanded and calked toward the outer periphery so as to cover the bottom inside surface from the edge part of the joining hole. |
