PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll for a super calender device capable of remaining a good condition of the roll surface properties for a long time. SOLUTION: A roller 3 for a super calender device is constituted such that the outer cylinder 1 is fitted to a sleeve 2. The sleeve 2 is made of a hard metal composed of WC-Ni-Cr. The ratio of the coefficient of thermal expansion of the sleeve 2 to that of the outer cylinder 1 and the axis 4 is in the range of 0.85-1.40. After the WC-Ni-Cr mixed powder is temporarily sintered in the cylindrical form, the sleeve 2 is obtained by hot isostatic pressing a sintered compact obtained by the temporary sintering.
