PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new metallocene compound comprising a specific metallocene compound having a ligand containing a fluorenyl group, useful as a homogenous system catalyst for olefin polymerization, etc., capable of providing a syndiotactic polymer having high stereoregularity and low-molecular weight. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (R1 and R2 are each an alkyl, an aryl or a silicon-containing alkyl; M is a metal selected from the group IV of the periodic table; Q is C or Si; X is a halogen, an alkyl or an anionic ligand; (i) is an integer of 1-10; (n) is an integer of 1-4; (m) is an integer of 0-41; (h) is an integer of 1-3) [e.g. cyclopropylidene(cyclopentadienyl)(2,7-ditert- butylfluorenyl)zirconium dichloride or the like] and is useful as a homogeneous system catalyst for olefin polymerization, etc. The compound is obtained by reacting a cycloalkylfulvene of formula II with a fluorene alkali metal compound of formula III (L is an alkali metal) to give a compound of formula IV and reacting the compound with a compound of a metal of the group IV of the periodic table. |
