<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a golf club head which robustly and surely stopping a face plate to a head body. SOLUTION: When a face molding material formed by mixing metallic powder and a binder is packed into a recess 6a which is formed in the face part 6 of the head body 8 and has an engaging part on the inner side and is cooled, a face plate constituting body 16 constituting the face plate is so molded as to intrude into the corners, such as recessed parts 6b in the recess of the face part. At this time, the projecting parts 16a integrally formed at the peripheral edge of the face plate constituting body engages with the recessed parts 6b. Next, the face plate constituting body is subjected to a degreasing treatment (or a dehydrating treatment) to flush away the binder and is then subjected to a firing treatment to cause solid phase sintering. Prescribed pressing force is imparted on the face plate constituting body from the face part 6 side after the sintering treatment, by which the clearances between the projecting parts 6b of the face plate constituting body and the recessed parts 6a of the face part are eliminated.</p> |
