PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod shaped dressing material supply receptacle having a cap slidingly held by the receptacle from which the cap is not dropped. SOLUTION: A rod shaped dressing material supply receptacle 1 comprises an end tube 7 having an inner hole in which a rod shaped dressing material 5 slides, a main body tube 15 rotatably connecred to the end tube 7, a mechanism for supplying and pulling the rod shaped dressing material by relatively rotating the end tube 7 and the main body tube 15 and a cap 3 for closing the end of the end tube 7. The cap 3 is provided with a cover body holding member 27 slidingly fitted to the outer periphery of the main body tube 15 and an openable cover body 21. The cover body holding member 27 is locked by a synchronously engaging rib or the like which protrudes on the main body tube and it is prevented from disengaging in the engaging part such as the lower surface of the step part 7f of the end tube and the upper surface 15k of the step part of the main body tube.
