PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily adjust the natural frequency of a vibration damping device incorporated into a structure to damp its vibration. SOLUTION: This vibration damping device 1 has threaded parts 7 formed at the ends of a pair of springs 5 extended from a weight 4, and the threaded parts 7 are passed through support holes 8 provided in support members 6. Nuts 9 are threadably engaged with both ends of the passed parts of the threaded parts 7. By varying the threadably engaged position of each nut 9, the tension of the spring 5 is varied to adjust the natural frequency of the vibration damping device.
