PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound capable of manifesting excellent penetrability and translocatability and insecticidal and acaricidal activities in a low dose, having a wide spectrum of objective insect pests, hardly adversely affecting mammals, fishes and useful insects and useful as a controlling agent for the insect pests. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [R1 and R2 are each a halogen, R3 is a 1-6C alkyl; X is H, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl or the like; (n) is 1-3], e.g. N'-(2,6-dichloroisonicotinoyl)-N'-tert-buty-N-benzoylhydrazine. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound represented by formula II (Z is a halogen) (e.g. benzoyl chloride) with a compound represented by formula III [e.g. N'-(2,6-dichloroisonicotinoyl)-N'-tert- butylhydrazine] in a solvent such as toluene, preferably at -20 deg.C to the boiling point of the solvent for about 0.5-3 h.
