COMBINED MINICELL ALIGNMENT AND HEADER PROTECTION METHOD AND APPARATUS

PURPOSE: The transmission method of a telecommunication system is provided to protect precise minicell header information and effectively maintain minicell alignment. CONSTITUTION: The asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) used in a telecommunication system is a standard protocol for transferring a telecommunication data and the data is transferred in a packet of a fixed size by the name of a ATM cell. The one header integrity check code is determined from a combination of minicell headers stored in the ATM cell. Only one header integrity check code, for detection errors of the minicell header and correcting, is inserted into each ATM cell rather than a header integrity check code for each and every minicell header. Accordingly minicell header information is checked, minicell alignment is maintained, and ATM bandwidth utilization is improved by inserting one header integrity check code.
