POWER STEERING SYSTEM WITH A VARIABLE BIAS BETWEEN VALVE ELEMENTS

PURPOSE: The power steering system with a variable bias between valve elements is to control fluid toward vehicle power steering motor. CONSTITUTION: The power steering system has rotatable motor control valve to restrain fluid. The relative relation between motor control valve members is resisted by biasing assembly which includes pressure chamber(138) and force transmitting assembly(114). A pressure chamber(138) controls force transmitting assembly by flowing press and supplies fluid through the secondary valve assembly operated in response yo relative rotation between motor control valve members. The pump (24) supplies fluid at a relatively high flow rate during operation of the pump at a low speed and supplies fluid at a relatively low flow rate during operation of the pump at a relatively high speed.
