PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer capable of not lowering the effective printing speed by a method wherein the thermal head heated to be in a high temperature is quickly cooled by means of a Peltier element. SOLUTION: In this thermal printer having a thermal head 7, there are provided a printable region D wherein printing is performed on a recording medium by the thermal head 7 and a moving region E wherein the thermal head 7 can move and which is outside of the printable region D. A Peltier element 16 having a cooling function is provided in the moving region E. The thermal head 7 is brought into contact with the Peltier element 16 so that the thermal head 7 is cooled. As a result, the thermal head 7 heated to be in a high temperature is forced to be quickly cooled without lowering the effective printing speed. |
