PURPOSE: The liquid crystal display is provided to reduce consuming electric power by improving sensitivity of the outer light amount when the outer light amount is changed. CONSTITUTION: In the liquid crystal display, a light-receiving device(1) receives the outer light itself, and the liquid crystal display turns on or off a light source(114) according to the output of the receiving light, and open and close a cover(121) automatically. The light-receiving device(1) is equipped to the direction of a back light in a casing(120) of the light crystal display and receives an outer-light received from a light-collecting part(115) and an inner-light generated from the light source(114). The liquid crystal display panel(100) improves the sensitivity of the outer light amount by changing automatically contrast or contrast ratio according to the output of the receiving device(2).
