PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively protecting a wood against light- induced deterioration. SOLUTION: This method for protecting a wood against light-induced deterioration is to characteristically treat the wood with a stain or an impregnating agent which penetrates the surface of the wood and comprises a) at least one organic solvent; and b) a hindered amine represented by formula I or II (wherein G1 and G2 are independently a 1-4C alkyl or pentamethylene when combined; Z1 or Z2 are each methyl or Z1 and Z2 are combined to form a bond group and, depending upon the case, form a bond group which may be substituted with an ester, ether, a hydroxy, an oxo, a cyanohydrin, an amido, a carboxy or urethane group; E is oxyl or hydroxyl; X is an inorganic or an organic anion and the total charge h of cation is equal to the total charge J of anion).
