PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston which can effectively reduce the emission of unburnt gas, in a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine in which fuel is injected in the exhaust valve side, by satisfactorily burning and evaporating liquid fuel sticking to the inner wall surface of a cylinder on the exhaust valve side. SOLUTION: A piston 4 is formed in its crown surface with a protrusion 21 having an intake valve side inclined surface 22 and an exhaust valve side inclined surface 23, which are substantially parallel with two inclined surfaces defining a pent roof type combustion chamber, a countersunk bowl 12 recessed at a position eccentric toward the intake valve, and a guide part 40 recessed at a position eccentric toward the exhaust valve. The guide part 40 has a sector shape enlarged in a direction toward the outer periphery of the piston 4, being formed so as to smoothly extend to the outer peripheral edge of the piston 4.
