摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent NOx purification performance in a simple and inexpensive structure by arranging a gas oil addition device for adding fuel gas oil to air and heating device for heating this gas oil to be partially oxidized on the way of an air supply passage communicating with an exhaust passage upstream of a NOx catalyst converter. SOLUTION: In a diesel engine 10, fuel gas oil is supplied from a fuel injection pump 14 to each air cylinder through a fuel injection pipe 16 and a fuel injection nozzle 12. After exhaust gas it flows through an exhaust passage 26 containing an exhaust manifold 24 and passes through a NOx catalyst converter 28, and its NOx is removed by a NOx catalyst 30, it is discharged outside. Air adjusted by a flow control valve 34 is supplied to an air supply passage 32 communicating with the upstream exhaust passage 26 of the NOx catalyst 30, and fuel gas oil of amount according to this air flow is injected from a fuel injection valve 40. Mixture of air with the fuel gas oil is heat by a heating device 44 to partially oxidize the fuel gas oil, and it is added to the exhaust gas as decomposition gas with strong NOx reductibity.
