PURPOSE: Phenylalkylcarboxylic acid derivatives are useful as a remedy or preventive for hyperglycemia and the like without depending on insulin and pharmacologically acceptable salts and esters thereof are provided. CONSTITUTION: The phenylalkylcarboxylic acid derivatives are represented by formula (I) and pharmacologically acceptable salts and esters thereof. In the formula, R1 represents alkyl, etc.; R2 represents alkylene; R3 represents hydrogen, etc.; X represents (un)substituted aryl, etc.; Y represents oxygen, etc.; Z represents alkylene, etc.; and W represents alkyl, etc. The compound is characterized by having an oxime bond in the side chain.
