PURPOSE: A beam record medium is provided to have a sufficient characteristic such as a signal characteristic and a record endurance characteristic in a high density. CONSTITUTION: The beam record medium comprises a record layer(4) which generates a reversible phase change between a crystal state and a non-crystal state and is composed of a phase change material. The beam record medium records and/or erases an information signal by irradiating a ray of light on the record layer(4). The record layer(4) contains Ag a In b Sb c Te d as the phase change material, and a component ration of a, b, c and d satisfies the relationship of a is greater than or equal 6 and less than or equal 1.1, d/b is greater than or equal 1.1 and less than or equal 2.2, c/d is greater than or equal 2 and less than or equal 3.
