TREATMENT OF BY-PRODUCT IN PRODUCTION PROCESS FOR OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the harmful effect of trimethyl amine in the production and the cost required for the treatment by treating the produced trimethyl amine by using hydrogen peroxide at the time of the disposal of a by-product in the production of optical fiber. SOLUTION: In the case of disposal of a by-product containing <=6C trialkyl amine or TRIMA (trimethyl amine) vapor generated at the time of re-heating a tube after once gelated and dried to evaporate an organic material or water in the production of optical fiber, a solution containing acetic acid, TRIMA salt and water is recirculated from a tank 12 to a gas-liquid contact equipment 10 to form the TRIMA salt from TRIMA vapor in the gas liquid contact equipment 10. A part of the salt solution is sent to a 3rd tank 16 of a batch treating reactor through a 2nd tank 14, a non-condensing gas is sent to a scrubber 18 where the TRIMA is returned to the salt solution through the conversion and flows back to the tank 12.
