PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make share to fasteners as little as possible and to facilitate the work of fastening the fasteners, relating to a structure for attaching a vibration damping device to a building frame by a fastening means, into which a resisting plate soaked in a viscous material packed in an upwardly open casing is inserted from above. SOLUTION: This mounting structure for a vibration damping device has an intermediate member 15 hanging from the lower surface of the beam member of an upper layer and has a splice plate 16 made to abut to both the intermediate member and a resisting plate 12. The intermediate member 15, the resisting plate 12, and the splice plate 16 are joined together by the fastening of fasteners 17 such as bolts and nuts mounted in corresponding bolt holes in these members. A wedge body 18 that bears a force working in the direction of the plate surface of the resisting plate 12 is interposed between the resisting plate 12 and the splice plate 16.
