PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling ignition timing capable of stably operating a direct injection type gasoline engine for efficiently obtaining high output while advancing the ignition timing. SOLUTION: Insulation resistance of an ignition plug is measured (S120), and as a result, in the case where abnormality of insulation resistance is not detected (S130-Y), ignition timing is advanced by one step, and in the case where abnormality of insulation resistance is detected (S130-N), ignition timing is delayed by five steps, and a process for incrementing the fail counter is repeated (S170, S180). In the case where the fail counter exceeds the determination value Cth (S160-N), plug fail is detected. Namely, in the case where abnormality of the insulation resistance is detected, ignition timing is delayed so as to recover the lowering of the insulation resistance due to a cause natural to a direct injection type gasoline engine. |
