PURPOSE: A polyester and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to be useful for improving the painting property and adherence of polymer by being added to a resin or rubber polymer while having an excellent usability with the resin or rubber polymer. CONSTITUTION: A polyester produced by polycondensing a polycarboxylic acid component comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid as the main component with a polyhydric alcohol component comprising a hindered glycol as the main component, which has a hydroxyl number of 30 mgKOH/g and a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of preferably 1,000 to 500,000. This polyester is suitable for the modification of resinous or rubbery polymers.
