PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a small amt. of nitrate-state nitrogen and to grow fructifying crops by using a mixture of an extract from red or green algae, a calcium compd., an org. acid and a phosphoric acid compd. as a foliar application agent and fertilizer. SOLUTION: Red algae such as laver or green algae such as a thick-haired codium and green laver are subjected to extraction with a hydrophilic solvent such as an alcohol, glycol or ketone at ordinary temp. to 60 deg.C. The resultant extract is separated by filtration, centrifuging or other method and a calcium compd. such as calcium lactate, an erg. acid such as acetic acid and a phosphoric acid compd. such as calcium perphosphate are added as essential components to the extract by 0.2-10 pts.wt., 1-20 pts.wt. and 0.5-15 pts.wt., respectively, based on 100 pts.wt. extract to obtain the objective nitrate nitrogen (NO3-) concn. reducer. An amino acid such as methionine and minerals such as molybdenum are preferably added besides the essential components. Crops harvested using the concn. reducer have a high sugar content and are excellent in a feeling of diet and taste. |
