PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent compsn. which is low in cost and is excellent in chelating power and biodegradability by incorporating two specific aminopolycarboxylic acids (salts) into the same. SOLUTION: One to thirty wt.% sum of 100 pts.wt. aminopolycarboxylic acid (salt) of formula I and 1-50 pts.wt. aminopolycarboxylic acid salt of formula II is compounded with 5-60 wt.% surfactant and 0-94 wt.% detergent builder. In formula I, R is H, a 1-22C linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group which may be substd. by up to 5 hydroxyl groups, or a group of formula III, IV, or V; R1 is a 1-10C linear or branched alkylene group which may be substd. by up to 5 hydroxyl groups or its a group of formula VI; R5 and R6 are each H or 1-2C alkyl; n is 0-50; R2 is 1-22C linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl; R3 and R4 are each H or 1-22C linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl; and M is H, an alkali or alkaline earth metal, ammonium, or a basic amino acid group. In formula II, R and M are each the same as in formula I excluding H.
