PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the door-retaining mechanism of a microwave oven without any open mechanism where the need for adjusting a position after assembly is eliminated, a latch head and a latch hook can be engaged securely, and a microwave oven can be miniaturized. SOLUTION: A microwave oven is provided with a latch head 3 where head parts 3a and 3a' projecting from the inner surface of a door 2 are flexed securely obliquely downward and its interior angle is an obtuse angle, a spring 7 for energizing the latch head 3 downward in the door 2, a plate-shaped latch base 8 that is fixed inside a microwave oven body 1, and latch hooks 10 and 10' that are provided in the shape of the latch base 8 and whose upper surface is inclined so that it becomes higher toward the rear. In the microwave oven, springs 14 and 14' for energizing the latch hooks 10 and 10' upward are provided and the latch hooks 10 and 10' slide up and down on the latch base 8 while being energized by the springs 14 and 14'.
