PURPOSE: A liquid containing and dividing device is provided to usefully contain or divide printing ink into an ink jet printer. CONSTITUTION: The dividing device comprises: a cell(12) having an opening and a facing end units; a chassis(14) placed within the opening end unit of the cell; a pumping element(16) placed within the pumping chamber; a device for deviating the pumping element from the facing terminal of the cell; a flexible diaphragm for covering the pumping element.
