PURPOSE: An apparatus and method of color filters used for displays are provided to improve an yield by drastic increasing in the formation of usable color filters. CONSTITUTION: The color filters (86) comprises a transparent substrate and a repeating pattern of colored pixels on the substrate, thereby forming the color filter (86), wherein each of the pixels comprises a plurality of small colorant areas, referred to as a sub-pixel (88). Processes forming pixels comprising a plurality of sub-pixels (88) exhibit a drastic increase in the formation of usable color filters, resulting in greatly improved yields.
