FORWARD LINK POWER CONTROL DEVICE OF CDMA MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND FORWARD LINK POWER CONTROL METHOD

PURPOSE: A forward link power control device of CDMA mobile communication system investigates a pilot channel and a traffic channel of a forward link, and determines a power control bit for a power control of a forward link. CONSTITUTION: A forward link power control device includes a power control bit detector(160) for detecting only a certain bit whose receiving code symbol's transmission rate is not changed from a correlation value about a code symbol received from a traffic channel, a power inference part(180) for inferring average value of a received power by using a correlation value about both the output bit of the power control bit detector and the code symbol received via the pilot channel. A comparator(210) compares the average value of the received power with a reference value for a power control, and generates a deviation according to the result. A power control bit generator(220) outputs a predetermined power control bit according to the deviation from the comparator. Accordingly, the forward link power control device inferences a power from a code symbol of the received CDMA signal via a traffic channel and a pilot channel, determines a power control bit, and enhances a system performance of the entire system when controlling a power between the mobile station and the base station.
