PURPOSE: A LCD having improved response speed is provided to promote the motion of nematic liquid crystal molecules by mixing ferroeletric liquid crystal generating polarization toward the moving direction of the molecules into the nematic liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION: The LCD having improved response speed comprises: upper and lower substrate(5,1) opposing each other; liquid crystal(10) inserted between the upper and lower substrates and which 0.01-10% ferroeletric liquid crystals are mixed into nematic liquid crystals; liquid crystal operating electrodes disposed on the inner side of the substrate or on the inner side of the lower substrate.
