摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image of high quality by specifying a central surface roughness of a surface formed with an image of an image forming unit and a thickness of a vapor-deposited layer in a method for forming the image by melting or softening at least part of an ink sheet having a vapor-deposited layer by a heat and transferring the image to the unit. SOLUTION: A melt thermal transfer ink sheet 10 has a surface layer provided on a support to have a melt thermal transfer ink containing a resin having a hydrophilic group. The layer is constituted of an adhesive layer 11, a metal thin film layer 12, a coloring material layer 13 and a release layer 14, and provided on a base material made of an ink sheet support 15 and a heat resistant layer 16. In this case, a central surface roughness (SRa) of a surface formed with an image is 0.10 μm or less. A thickness of the layer 12 formed of aluminum as a vapor-deposited layer is 100 Å or more. The resin having the hydrophilic group is contained at a ratio of, for example, 30 wt.% in the layer 13 or layer 11.
