PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the press compact by exhibiting a high filtering treatment capacity as compared to a conventional way and achieving a high treatment quantity and a filtering treatment of low water content. SOLUTION: The two stage filtering type screw press is constructed so that a primary filtering chamber 1 provided with a coarse filtering face 12 and a primary screw 23, and a secondary filtering chamber 2 provided with a fine filtering face 22 and a secondary screw 23, are arranged doubly in inner/outer. A raw liquid introduced into the primary filtering chamber 1 is filtered by the coarse filtering face 12 while pressing by the primary screw 13, a primary filtered liquid is caused to flow into the secondary filtering chamber 2, a primary cake remained in the primary filtering chamber 1 is introduced from a front end part of the secondary filtering chamber 2 into the secondary filtering chamber 2. The primary filtered liquid is further filtered by the fine filtering face 22 in the secondary filtering chamber 2, a secondary filtered liquid is taken out outside, the secondary cake remained in the secondary filtering chamber 2 is taken out outside from a front end part of the secondary filtering chamber 2.
