PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain coil-like carbon fiber capable of shielding electromagnetic waves more efficiently through effectively absorbing and reflecting them, to provide a method for producing the carbon fiber, and to obtain electromagnetic wave shielding materials using the above carbon fiber. SOLUTION: This coil-like carbon fiber is such one as to be formed in a micro-coil manner and provided on its outer peripheral surface with a thin film of carbon, transition metal other than titanium zirconium and hafnium, aluminum, or carbide of transition metal other than titanium, zirconium, hafnium and silicon, or the like (pref. carbon). Another version of this coil-like carbon fiber is such one as to be provided on its outer peripheral surface with a thin film of any transition metal, or carbide of any transition metal, etc., and further thereon with a thin film of carbon. |
