PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a grease compsn. which has a low coefficient of friction and provides a long acoustic life when used in bearings by using a carbonic ester compd. as at least a part of the base oil of a lubricating grease compsn. contg. a base oil and a thickener. SOLUTION: A carbonic ester compd. represented by the formula: R1O-CO-OR2 is used as 50-100 wt.% of the base oil. In the formula, R1 and R2 are each 6-30C satd. or unsatd. alkyl. lithium salts, sodium salts, calcium salts, aluminum salts, complex salts thereof, and urea compds. are pref. as the thickener. A suitable amt. of the thickener used is 3-30 wt.% of the total grease compsn. Examples of a base oil which may be used together with the carbonic ester compd. are synthetic ester coils, synthetic ether oils, synthetic hydrocarbon oils, and mineral oils. The grease compsn. is esp. suitable for lubricating ball bearings of spindle motors. |
