PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical shaft pump capable of facilitating the maintenance of main equipment while reducing the civil engineering and construction cost, capable of eliminating the reconstruction of a building provided with a vertical shaft pump even in the case of changing types of machine from a horizontal shaft pump to a vertical shaft pump in response to a request, and capable of being operated by an existing motor. SOLUTION: A power transmitting unit 30 is provided with a horizontal input rotary shaft 31, a vertical output rotary shaft 32, a power transmitting member 33 for transmitting the input rotation of the input rotary shaft 31 to the output rotary shaft 32, and a casing 34 for housing them for support freely to be rotated. This power transmitting unit 30 is fixed to each top surface of a first placing seat 35 and a second placing seat 36 provided outside of a discharge bent pipe 6 with a vertical stage difference H and a radial eccentricity R of a main shaft 2 freely to be removed.
