PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a voice level of a television set is provided to automatically increase or decrease the voice level according to a noise of circumstance. CONSTITUTION: An outer voice signal having an original voice signal provided from a speaker(28) is detected at a voice detector(26). The detected outer voice signal is compared to the original voice signal at a comparator(27). If a value of the difference between the detected outer voice signal and the original voice signal is larger than a predetermined value, a voice volume compensation control signal is provided to increase or decrease the voice level of the speaker. Thereby, it is possible to automatically adjust the voice level of the television set according to the noise of the circumstance.
