PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary driving device for a bicycle, which assists running by adding driving force as large as force with which a rider rows foot pedals with a motor, by controlling rotation of a motor based on tension difference between an expansion side and a loose side of a chain. SOLUTION: Tension on an expansion side of a chain 14 rises by means of a driving force in rowing foot pedals 11, a bar 23 bridged on the chain 14 is lifted up, and then resistance on a potentiometer 24 changes. A control portion rotates a third sprocket 15 with a motor 16 based on this resistance's change to add auxiliary driving force to the chain 14. Then, tension between a first sprocket 12 and the third sprocket 15 rises to pull down the bar 23. When manpower is equal to the auxiliary driving force in strength, the position of the bar 23 is same regardless of the strength of the manpower, and the resistance on the potentiometer at this time is set as a control value in the control portion.
