PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of rapidly clearing even liquid of a relatively high viscosity, such as a glass melt, at a relatively low temp. SOLUTION: This method includes a stage of acting an excess pressure which is at least about the sum of the equil. pressure of the gas dissolved in the liquid 2 in the magnitude of the internal pressure of the individual air bubbles under the surface of the liquid of a clearing chamber 1 and is preferably regulated to about the vapor pressure of the component evaporating from the liquid 2 on the liquid and the device for physically clearing the liquid 2 contg. the dissolved gas and the gaseous bubbles has treating vessels P and P' for treating the liquid 2 and the clearing chamber 1 for clearing the liquid 2 under the excess pressure. The clearing chamber 1 is connected between the two of the treating vessels P and P' and is arranged at a liquid level of the depth A under the ordinary liquid level in one of the treating vessels P and P'. The depth A is such that the isostatic pressure in the clearing chamber 1 for excess pressure clearing rises sufficiently higher than the isostatic pressure within one of the treating vessels P and P'.
