PURPOSE: The binder composition is provided which has thixotropic properties. CONSTITUTION: The binder for coating composition comprises carboxy terminated aliphatic ester, obtained from an automatic oxidative aliphatic acid, polyol and carboxy compound, ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid and ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid ester. Thus, 130.8 parts by weight of sunflower aliphatic acid and 32.7 parts by weight of conjugated aliphatic acid are reacted with 41.8 parts by weight of ditrimethylol propane. 47.3 parts by weight of methacrylic acid, 181.8 parts by weight of methyl methacrylate, 131.3 parts by weight of butyl methacrylate, 25.4 parts by weight of butyl acrylate, 16.7 parts by weight of t-butyl perbenzoate are mixed, followed by addition of the aliphatic acid ester for 3- 4 hours to give the coating composition.
