PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sheet lithium aluminate effective as a PVC stabilizer by an easy and economical method by allowing an aq.soln. contg. a lithium salt and anions to react with a sodium aluminate soln., adjusting the reaction mixture to a specified pH, forming and separating sheet lithium aluminate. SOLUTION: An aq. soln. contg. at least one lithium salt and anions is allowed to react with a sodium aluminate soln. The concn. of lithium in the aq. soln. is 0.02-11 mol/l. the concn. of sodium aluminate in the sodium aluminate soln. is 0.03-3 mol/l, the reaction temp. is between room temp. and the b.p. of the reaction mixture and the reaction is allowed to proceed for at least 1 hr. The reaction mixture is then adjusted to pH 6-13 and the objective sheet lithium aluminate of the formula LiAl2(OH)6.(OH)1-x.x/nA.wH2O [where 0<x<1, (n) is the valence of the anion A and 0<w<=1] is formed and separated.
