PRODUCTION OF HYDROGENATED PRODUCT OF RING-OPENED NORBORNENE POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial process for producing a hydrogenated product of a ring-opened norbornene polymer in high productivity and hydrogenation ratio in a short hydrogenation reaction time. SOLUTION: The objective hydrogenated product of a ring-opened norbornene polymer is produced by carrying out the ring-opening polymerization of a norbornene monomer using a polymerization catalyst and the hydrogenation of the produced ring-opened norbornene polymer using a hydrogenation catalyst. In the above process, a catalyst produced by carrying a transition metal on an inorganic carrier is used as the hydrogenation catalyst, a solid component containing the hydrogenation catalyst is separated and recovered from the solution containing the hydrogenated ring-opened norbornene polymer after the hydrogenation reaction and the recovered solid component containing the hydrogenation catalyst is used in the subsequent hydrogenation treatment.
