PURPOSE: Conventional heating packs have disadvantages of inconstant or controllable temperature, large volume and unsatisfactory physical size preventing its effectiveness, despite the advantage of providing heat for long time. The heating apparatus cannot maintain constant and controlled temperature because of voids formed in the pack after the pack is filled with exothermic composition. CONSTITUTION: An exothermic heating cell is produced by a method comprising the steps of 1) forming aggregate by mixing exothermic granular composition comprising iron powder, dried powder of carbon material and aggregation auxiliary substance, 2) packing the aggregate into a pocket formed between the top cell-forming surface and the bottom cell-forming surface in which at least one surface is oxygen-permeable, 3) sealing the pocket when the aggregate is seal between the surfaces. The exothermic heating cell is activated by addition of aqueous solution and may contain metal salt.
