A method processing a thermoplastic resin includes the steps of compressing first particles of the thermoplastic resin at a temperature effective to soften the particles so that the particles partially fuse to form an aggregate of the particles and dividing the aggregate into second particles of the thermoplastic resin and allows particulate thermoplastic resin to be compacted and pelletized at reduced cost with reduced risk of thermal degradation of the thermoplastic resin.
