PURPOSE:To obtain high image quality and high resolving power by eliminating the generating of fogging, tailing and background staining by using a recording agent changing in its crosslinked structure and viscosity by electrochemical reaction to apply the same to recording paper in a non-contact state. CONSTITUTION:A recording agent 3 contains a substance having a crosslinking structure changeable its crosslinked structure due to a pH change or an ionic migration by the supply of a current and resultantly controllable in its viscosity. The recording agent 3 is applied to a recording agent carrying roll 8 having a conductive substrate in a laminar state from a recording agent supply roll 11 and a recording agent layer is formed on the conductive substrate and the film thickness thereof is made constant by a film thickness control means 5. When an image is formed, DC voltage is applied between a recording electrode 2 and the conductive substrate corresponding to an image signal at first so that the said electrode 2 becomes an anode to lower the viscosity of the recording agent 3. Next, high voltage is applied between a back electrode 7 and the conductive substrate to allow the recording agent 3 to lower in its viscosity and the recording agent is guided and bonded to recording paper to form a sharp image. |
