The invention relates to an electrical household appliance and to a corresponding method for purifying water (22) intermittently or in portions, comprising an ozone generator (12) for producing ozone, an injection device (8) for mixing ozone with water (22) said injection device communicating with a mixing chamber (25), and a processing unit through which water (22) flows and which contains at least one purifying unit (15 and/or 17). Constituents of the water are modified, removed or added in said processing unit. According to the invention, the holding chamber (25) can be connected to a circular line (3, 14, 109, 110, 105) which flows back to the holding chamber (25). At least one purification unit (15) of the processing unit is connected to said circular line (3, 14, 109, 110, 105). The flow through the circular line can be controlled by a first valve unit (32) which controls the water throughflow. According to the inventive method, a first step consists of enriching the water (22) with ozone in the circular line (3, 5, 105, 104) until the water (22) contains enough ozone. In a second stage, the first valve unit (32) opens and a second valve unit (31) closes to convey the ozonised water to at least one purification unit (15) wherein the water is purified. The water to be purified circulates in this circular line (3, 14, 109, 110, 105) and the associated purification unit (15) until it has become pure enough. The water purification process is considerably improved as a result and the water is of a better quality. |
