PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To work the gnarl-free face of a wood to enhance its quality and at the same time, effectively use a wood resource, when the face turned to the outside of the wood to be used for a threshold, lintel, beam pillar or the like, has gnarls. SOLUTION: A faced groove 7 is formed in the face with gnarls F of a wood body 5 and has a groove planar part 7b and a groove slope 7a which rises at a specified angle on both sides of the groove planar part 7b. In addition, a surface layer wood board 6 with the same cross section shape as the faced groove 7 is integrally laminated on the faced groove 7 through an adhesive using a hot press or the like. Further a chamfered part 8 is formed on both edge parts of the laminated part and a border C between the wood body 5 and the surface layer wood board 6 appears on the chamfered part 8, so that the border C makes a real division line hardly recognizable. Further the gnarls F are concealed by the surface layer wood 6 as a cover and therefore the gnarl- free wood is obtained for use.
