PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding machine capable of accurately detecting the change of the grinding surface position of a grinding wheel caused along with the abrasion and to grind a work with high accuracy based on the detected results. SOLUTION: In this grinding machine feeding grinding wheels 17, 18 toward a work while rotating and grinding the surface of the work by grinding surfaces 17a, 18a of the grinding wheels 17, 18, contacting sensors 42, 43 are arranged opposing to the grinding surfaces 17a, 18a of the grinding wheels 17, 18. The contacting sensors 42, 43 are provided with contactors 42a, 43a moved by the contact with the grinding surfaces 17a, 18a and differential transformers 42b, 43b for detecting the change of moving amount of the contactors 42a, 43a as the moving amount of the grinding surface.
