PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a feed dog saving mechanism, to surely prevent a feed dog and a movable blade from interfering with each other when a thread is cut and to prevent dust from sticking to the feed dog under saved condition. SOLUTION: This electronic control type sewing machine is provided with a needle rod, a needle plate, a feed dog 10, a feed dog up and down driving mechanism 30, a feed dog back and forth driving mechanism 20 and a thread cutting mechanism with a movable blade 54. In this case, as a feed dog saving mechanism 40 consisting of a switch lever 45, or the like is provided and a cam 31c for driving saving is provided on the feed dog up and down driving mechanism 30, when the movable blade 54 moves back and forth through the underside of the feed dog 10 accompanied with finishing of embroidery sewing using a embroidery frame driving mechanism, as the feed dog 10 is under saved condition and is moved a little upward to an elevated position from the saved condition (the lowermost position), the feed dog 10 and the movable blade 54 are surely prevented from interfering with each other.
