PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of manifesting excellent stability even at the time of preservation for a long period without causing adsorption onto a container even when diluted to a low concentration and useful as a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for blood coagulating diseases by including a soluble thrombomodulin and a specific reducing substance for stabilizing the soluble thrombomodulin as essential ingredients. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including (A) a soluble thrombomodulin and (B) one or more kinds selected from maltase, lactose, sucrose, arginine and salts thereof. The ingredient A is preferably a human urine-derived or a recombinant human soluble thrombomodulin. (C) A nonionic surfactant as an adsorption preventing agent is further preferably added to the composition. The composition is prepared by separately preparing, e.g. a composition consisting essentially of the ingredients A and B and the ingredient C, mixing both in use and then freeze-drying the resultant composition in a solution state. The amount of the added ingredient B is preferably about 0.1-1,000 mg based on 1 mg potency of the ingredient A.
