PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to the comfortable dwelling life of an aged society by providing a stair elevating device of substantially safe structure without the possibility of a chair falling. SOLUTION: End plates are fixed to both ends of lip channel steel or aluminum extruded material with equal function to form a frame 1, and a slide suspension 2 with a plurality of rollers moving with the inner side face of the frame 1 as a guide way is provided in the frame 1. An internal thread set 62 of a built-up square screw shaft set 6 is surrounded with damping material and installed at a box part of the slide suspension 2. Both ends of a built-up square screw shaft 61 are fitted to the end plates of the frame 1, and a housing 7 is fitted to the internal thread set 62. A motor 8, a foot receiver 9, a chair fitting plate 10 and a chair 12 (or a chair rotating device 11 and the chair 12) are mounted to the housing 7. An internal thread 63 of the internal thread set 62 is rotated by the motor 8 through a belt 15 to elevate the chair 12.
